Toccoa River - March
It’s been a crazy start to the month of March with a lot of days on the water and some incredible fly fishing despite the significantly higher water levels on the Toccoa River! We did several drift boat trips on the Toccoa River this past week, both on the Toccoa River Tailwater and on the Headwaters!
Tailwater Fishing Report
2600 cfs and the water is roaring! Wade trips are definitely out of the question, but if you have means to float there are plenty of fish to be caught! Throwing big streamers way up on the bank and then stripping them back extremely slowly has been the ticket for the nicer brown trout while nymphing the slow water and eddies has been great for picking up hungry rainbows. Patterns that have been working have been Lynch’s Drunk and Disorderly, as well as the milkshake. Nymph wise, size 10 twenty incher stoneflies and size 14 pheasant tail nymphs are the ticket
Delayed Harvest
The water has cleared up significantly and fish are sitting in the slower water and they are hungry! Junk is the way to go in higher water, mop flies, squirmy worms, and eggs have been great.
Enjoy some pictures below of some great fish from this past week!
