Noontoola Creek Fishing Report - January

With all of the rain we’ve had over the past few weeks good low fishable water has been very hard to come by, however there are a few places that remain low during all of this rain and Noontoola creek is one of them.

While Noontoola creek may not be flooded, it definitely is running high which definitely changes things from the typical way of fishing Noontoola creek. Streamer fishing has been great on the creek swinging olive streamers that are anywhere from 1in-3in in the softer water and right off the banks. Some of our Favorite patterns are the olive Rusty Trombone, Bow River buggers, and Sculpzillas.

As well as streamers, there are still plenty of fish eating Nymphs in the higher water. Patterns like a size 10 Pat’s Rubber Legs, Size 14 Tungsten Pheasant Tails, and Tungsten Prince nymphs. Also there are plenty of fish eating junk flies like Worms and eggs in the deeper holes that are best reached using straight 4x fluro tippet and a size BB split shot below an indicator to get flies deep down to those fish in 4+ feet of water, and to really spend some time fishing the back eddies.
