We chase these freshwater Striper as they run up the rivers to spawn in Late April to October 1 depending on water temperatures, and river conditions.
Sure to put a smile on even the most seasoned of fisherman’s faces. Every serious fly fisherman has to try this at least once! We fly fish for Striper mostly in the Chattahoochee and Chestatee River basins and chase these bad boys from the ease of a drift boat.
Striper Fishing Fly Selection
When you’re chasing these striped bass, you’re going to want to have some shad imitations in your box. Our go to flys are clouser minnows and swimming flies like the “drunk and disorderly”. Most of the time with these schooling striper, your best bet is to find banks or deeper channels that they are patrolling and pushing bait toward. If you can spot them here and cast your fly to them, it won’t be long before you hook up.
