Toccoa River Fishing Report - February
More of the same here, which is bad news if you’re a wade fisherman but pretty awesome if you can hit the Toccoa tail water and float! We’ve been catching fish on the 1400 cfs+ flows here lately on the milkshake, as well as a variation of Tommy Lynch’s Drunk and Disorderly. The perfect size has been between 4 and 6 inches long here lately. The fish are sort of falling into a post spawn/ spring pattern so they seem a little less aggressive, but there are still plenty of fish left to be caught as can be seen!
Caddis are also beginning to hatch on the Toccoa Tailwater, so it dosen’t hurt to take along a 5wt with some size 14 or even 12 caddis. Let’s all hope for low water and we can really get on the bugs! The fish don’t seem to be too terribly concerned about the bugs on the high water.
If you want to make the most of your trip up to the mountains this Spring/Summer and learn the river in detail yourself, book one of our Toccoa River Guide trips for you or bring a friend and split the cost! Our North Georgia Fishing Guides know the river inside and out, and want to help you become an even better fly fisherman!!
