Why fly fishing for a bachelor party

It's something different. Half your group has been to Asheville. The other half has done a Charleston bourbon weekend. Almost nobody has done a guided fly fishing day on private water in the North Georgia mountains. The setup makes for a great mix — guys who fish get serious water, guys who don't get a teachable, achievable challenge they'll talk about for years.

How a typical bachelor party day runs

Most groups meet at a private water section on the Soque or Noontootla around 8 AM. Guides pair up 1-3 anglers each. Half-day groups fish through noon and head to lunch; full-day groups fish through ~3 PM with a riverside lunch break. Most guys land at least one trout, the groom usually catches the biggest. We handle a Bowman tradition of getting a group photo with everyone in it.

Pairing fly fishing with the rest of the weekend

Most bachelor parties pair the day on the water with an evening in Blue Ridge, Helen, Dahlonega, or back in Atlanta. We're 90 minutes from Atlanta, 35 minutes from Dahlonega, 25 minutes from Helen. If you're staying in a North Georgia mountain rental for the weekend, we'll meet at the river closest to your place.

Common questions

Bachelor Party Fly Fishing in North Georgia — FAQ

How many guys can you handle for a bachelor party fly fishing trip?

We typically host bachelor parties of 6-12 guys, but can scale up to 20 across multiple guides on private water. Smaller groups (4-6) are also great — easier to get everyone individual attention.

What if some of the groomsmen have never fly fished?

Almost always the case — and totally fine. Our guides teach casting and reading water in the first 30 minutes. Most first-time guys land their first trout before lunch. We pair experienced anglers with our advanced guides so they get challenged too.

How much does a bachelor party fly fishing trip cost?

Group rates are $190/person for half-day and $260/person for full-day, all-inclusive. A bachelor party of 8 doing a half-day runs $1,520; a full-day runs $2,080. Splits cleanly across the group.

Can we drink on the trip?

Yes — most groups bring a cooler. We just ask that everyone is sober enough to wade safely. Save the heavy drinking for after the boat hits the takeout. Half-day trips end by 1 PM if you want to start the post-trip part early.

What should we bring?

Polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, and clothes you don't mind getting wet. We provide rods, reels, flies, waders, and boots. If anyone has their own rod they'd rather use, bring it. Bring a camera or phone for photos — most guys want shots of their first trout.
